Amanda is a British-Chinese post-graduate student (from King’s College London) who is currently living in Cairo as part of an intensive Arabic programme and as a part-time researcher at the American University in Cairo. As a freelance journalist, she has a demonstrated history of working in the non-profit organisation industry and the education system. Her aim is to fight for human rights by spreading understanding and a voice for the voiceless on current topics in the Middle East, particularly on topics like the war on terror, Islamic philosophy, the Arab Spring(s) and Islamic fundamentalism. She has a particular focus on Egypt as an important actor in the region. Armed with a master’s in terrorism & counter-terrorism as well as fluency in Mandarin and lower-intermediate proficiency in Arabic, she intends to pursue a career in journalism.
